VIMS ENT Dept. started functioning from 1961 and from 1979 PG courses were started. Currently it works with bed strength of 33 with well equipped of Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery with modern amenities. It has 2 functional units, which caters for OPD all the days of the week and each unit have 2 OT days in a week. An average of 150-200 cases are seen as OP daily and 6-8 cases are posted for OT. A special interest is taken for the oncology cases.
Department is providing the facility of speech therapy through our qualified audiologist. And audio logical diagnostic testing like Pure tone audiometry, Electro Nystagmography, Electro cochleography, Brain stem evoked response audiometer, Facial Nerve stimulator are done case based. They conduct various deaf mute camps and ENT diagnostic camps in the local and rural areas of Bellary.
Participation in seminars, journal clubs and case conferences at the departmental level in addition to regular clinical work in the hospital in-patient and outpatient services were essential parts of the training program. I have done dissertation on ‘A CLINICAL STUDY OF COMPLICATIONS OF CHRONIC SUPPURATIVE OTITIS MEDIA’. I successfully completed the course in the examination held in May-2014.

International surgical and LASER assisted workshop on laryngotracheal stenosis conducted by department of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, SJMCH Bengaluru on 4th and 5th August 2012.
Live temporal bone dissection and ear surgery workshop-10th to 12th August 2012 at Basavanagudi ENT care centre, Bengaluru.
Workshop on research methodology and statistical analysis-14th and 15th November 2012 at VIMS, Bellary.
Speaker “ Molecular Biology of Head and Neck Cancers” in CME on Recent Advances in Head and Neck Oncology Conducted by HCG Bangalore.
